Does the media have you worried about H1N1?
We have solutions for keeping your immune system strong this season!
We are being asked several times each day, here at the clinic, what we are doing about H1N1. The best approach is certainly prevention, but we also have great treatments here at the clinic should you find yourself with cold or flu symptoms this winter.
Here is what we can offer you at the StoneTree Clinic:
- monthly immune-boosting homeopathic injection (preventive); very popular with teachers and those who
catch everything that comes home
- intravenous therapy; high-dose vitamin C formula. This can be used as preventive or at first sign of symptoms to stop an illness its tracks.
- food allergy testing; see what is in your diet that is keeping your immune system preoccupied
- recommend specific products best suited to your symptoms or needs
- explore what could be keeping your immune system low; low thyroid function, dietary choices, stressors, sleep quality, etc.
Here is what you can do on a daily basis:
- consume at least 5 servings of fresh & colourful vegetables and fruits each day (the WHO recommends 9-13... make it a goal!)
- wash your hands regularly with soap and water
- use your sleeve to open public doors, whenever possible
- consume at least half your body weight (lb) in ounces of water
- get 8 hours of good sleep each night
- avoid consumption of refined sugar; it impairs your immune system for up to 4 hours
- take a probiotic supplement each day (acidophilus & bifidus)
- get outside for physical activity each day; indoor air quality deteriorates when we close the windows in winter
For more information about how we can help keep your immune system strong against nearly all forms of infection please call the office to schedule an appointment.

Bill C-51 has very quickly and quietly passed second reading and will include all natural health products under the umbrella of "therapeutic products" which means not only your Naturopath, but health food stores, and YOU will not have access to them unless it comes through your family physician who has neither the training nor the expertise to prescribe them.
At a provincial level, NDs are finally being recognized as primary care doctors with the passing of Bill 171, the "Health System Improvements Act," and we've been assured we will be able to maintain our current scope of practice, which includes all of the substances that Bill C-51 will restrict us from at a federal level. The safety of the public is indeed important, which is exactly why regulated substances should be administered by trained healthcare providers, especially Naturopathic Doctors. The fact that this point is missing from this piece of legislation is critical.

Please take the time at least to send one letter to your MP if you value choice in healthcare.
